Inscribed in “Me” - DEDA, Derby

Choreographed and performed by Alethia Antonia, Inscribed in “Me” is a visceral journey that explores the inscriptions of personal and historical experiences through movement, voice and music. Using the frame of performance, the piece acts as a space of navigation; investigating the boundaries of feminine blackness and self-authorship. Inscribed in “Me” bears witness to the deeply personal yet universal endeavour to find self-actualisation and healing.

Open Company Class - dANCE EAST

DanceEast is delighted to be presenting Inscribed In “Me” by Alethia Antonia in partnership with SPILL Festival. Alethia has generously opened their company class, on Thursday 19 October, 10am – 11.15am,  to local professional dancers and dancers in training.

This highly physical class will draw on various movement styles and practices to explore physicality, musicality, dynamics, and flow. It will begin with exploring physicality through improvisation and structured movement patterns to encourage flow and develop strength, mobility and connectivity through the whole body.

This will build into set standing and floor work phrases and accumulate in a sequence that integrates all elements. Throughout, there will be an emphasis put on working within one’s individual body while maintaining a dedication to testing one’s own capabilities and to find new possibilities.

To sign up, please email Esther.Alcock@danceeast.co.uk and you can find out more about Inscribed In “Me” here.
