experiEnced producers

Alethia Antonia is looking for an Experienced Producer to work with across a range of projects starting April 2024.

About Alethia Antonia

Alethia (They/her) is an independent choreographer, performer, teacher and researcher.

Alethia's practice incorporates a variety of movement practices, music, singing, and academic frames to explore artistic and socio-political questions related to identity. Their work aims to present narratives, develop methodologies and provoke discussions around individual and collective experiences related to feminine blackness that move away from stereotypical representation or existing in a place of invisibility. Their practice also explores accessibility, decolonisation and using dance as a place to reimagine and heal.

Alethia’s choreographic work has been presented in theatre (The Place, DanceEast, Lilian Baylis) galleries (UTA Artist Space, LA and Centre Pompidou, Paris) outdoors (National Theatre Riverstage, London Gallery Weekend) and in film contexts (Phoenix Dance Theatre and Sadler’s Wells Digital Programmes), with their research being supported by institutions such as Akram Khan Company, FABRIC, NSCD, Yorkshire Dance and Leeds Dance Partnership. They are a Work Place Artist at The Place and a part-time PhD student at De Montfort University with a Midlands4Cities scholarship.

Alongside their choreographic work, Alethia is an established performer who has worked with Russell Maliphant Company, Scottish Dance Theatre, James Cousin Company, James Wilton Dance and Theo Clinkard, amongst others, and is a guest lecturer for conservatoires, professional companies and youth dance schemes around the UK.
